Return to The Beats Wiki
Another woman linked with the Beat movement, Anne Waldman's poetry is very performative, a style which Allen Ginsberg and Lawrence Ferlinghetti encouraged her to pursue early on. She founded The Jack Kerouac School of Disembodied Poets that Diane di Prima, Ginsberg and other Beats were a part of. She also greatly embraced the idea of Buddhism that many of the Beats were so fond of. Here are a couple of clips of Waldman reading, or should I say performing her poetry.
