Diane Di Prima

Return to The Beats Wiki

Diane di Prima was one of the females who participated in the emerging Beat movement. She spent a lot of time moving between New York City and San Francisco where she eventually moved permanently. She acted as sort of a bridge figure between the Beats and later Hippies. Di Prima also taught poetry at The Jack Kerouac School of Disembodied Poets in Colorado along with Allen Ginsberg, William Burroughs and Gregory Corso. Here is a youtube clip of her reading some of her beautiful poetry.
