Electroshock Therapy

A treatment to reverse the symptoms of mental illness by passing electricity through the brain to induce a seizure. In the 1940s into the 1950s, electroshock therapy was given without the use of muscle-relaxants, resulting in often violent convulsions. Sometimes patients would exit treatment with fractured or dislocated bones due to the intensity of their seizures.
